Kentucky Onsite Mission
"Through education and communication, to elevate the onsite wastewater industry and thereby protect human health, preserve the environment, and improve the quality of life for onsite professionals."
The Kentucky Onsite Wastewater Association, Inc. was officially organized in 1995 as a non-profit corporation. Voting members include manufacturers, installers, pumpers, and regulators of onsite sewage disposal systems and components. Voting members of K.O.W.A. may also be members of academic institutions or government agencies involved in other aspects of the onsite sewage disposal systems industry. Other persons with related interests in the industry may also be admitted to the organization.
K.O.W.A. has the following purposes:
- To work toward the establishment of uniform standards for onsite sewage disposal systems.
- To compile and disseminate information affecting the onsite industry.
- To educate the public on the value of recycling wastewater and the need for adequate onsite systems.
- To protect the environment of the state of Kentucky by assisting the development of sound practices.
- To unite industry professionals in a common organization.
- To promote ethical standards for the guidance of members with each other and with the public.
